VBD volunteers filled potholes in Chattogram

VBD volunteers with financial help from Mercy Universe filled potholes of the road on the east side of the Kalurghat Bridge. About 500 yards of the road leading to Boalkhali from the east bank of the Kalurghat Bridge in Chattogram had brought difficulty in transportation for weeks.

According to the locals, an average of 3/4 thousand vehicles or about 20 thousand people travel on this road every day at the risk of their lives.

As a result, many have already been the victims of accidents. Although the road was repeatedly repaired by the authorities, it had become unusable after a while due to the accumulation of rain water.

This time, the authorities claimed, “The road will be renovated as soon as the monsoon season is over”.

In order to ease the transportation of vehicles and pedestrians during the rest of the monsoon season, Volunteers for Bangladesh – Chittagong District took up a project called “Jatra Hok Nirapad” by improving the condition of the road along with raising civic awareness. The project has been funded by a social organization named ‘Mercy Universe’.

On this day, the volunteers of the organization filled the potholes in the road with a mixture of concrete and sand before compressing it with a road roller. This was done to stop water from gathering here and also make the road more suitable for traffic.

VBD Chattogram expresses its gratitude to all the well-wishers, volunteers and collaborating organizations for their cooperation in the implementation of this project.

Also to note that this project of VBD Chattogram district is dedicated to three volunteers of VBD Dinajpur district who died in an accident last year.
